The Certificate of Graduate Studies in Gifted & Talented Education for Teachers is an online program designed to help educators develop and deliver effective instructional opportunities for gifted and talented students in public and private schools. Coursework is taught from a Christian perspective.

  • Complete 12-14 credit hours.
  • Design effective curriculum, instruction and assessment activities that develop both the academic and character of students.
  • Apply to the Virginia Department of Education to add the Gifted Endorsement to your teaching certificate.

This certificate may help advance your career in teaching and administration by equipping you as an expert in your field.

Modify, create, and evaluate curriculum through differentiation and tiered assessments. (Required for Virginia endorsement.)

Educational models and instructional strategies for use with gifted learners. (Required for Virginia endorsement.)
EGTL 530Psychology & Education of Gifted Learners3
Development of gifted individuals over the lifespan from a cognitive, psychosocial, and physiological perspective; evaluate appropriate learning activities and assessments that include cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills and attributes. (Required for Virginia endorsement.)
EGTL 580Practicum in Gifted Education2
A field-based experience in a gifted education setting. (Required for Virginia endorsement.)

Students should refer to their catalog or audited degree plan (ADP) for required courses to complete their degree.

2026-27 Semester Check-In Deadlines

All students are expected to check-in for the semester two weeks before the session start date. Students should apply, be accepted, enroll in their first courses, and confirm a plan to pay for their courses prior to this date.

Application Requirements

Step 1: Apply to 91

Submit your application using the 91 Online Application.

Note: If you are unable to complete our application due to a disability, please contact our Admissions Office at 757.352.4990 or admissions@regent.edu and an admissions representative will provide reasonable accommodations to assist you in completing the application.

Step 2: Submit Your Unofficial Transcripts

Submit your unofficial transcripts to regent.edu/items.

Upon submitting your application, you will receive an email requesting authorization for 91 to obtain your official transcripts from your U.S. degree-granting institution. International transcripts must be evaluated by a or approved agency.

Step 3: Submit Your Government-Issued ID

To ensure academic integrity, 91 requires a copy of a government-issued ID. Please submit a scanned copy or photograph of it to regent.edu/items.
