At 91¶¶Ňő School of Law, earn your J.D., LL.M., M.A. or B.A. to gain the expert legal reasoning necessary to lead the change you want to see. With Christ-centered truth and justice as your compass, Regent Law can equip you to succeed.
Why Should You Earn a Juris Doctor?
Many students pursue a Juris Doctor (J.D.) to prepare for the bar exam and the courtroom. According to the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), a J.D. is “the first professional law degree required to practice law in the United States.” However, the legal field is vast, and the credentials of a J.D. can lead to impactful opportunities for attorneys, judges, policymakers, and other positions of great influence and leadership. A J.D., typically a three-year degree, signals an advanced level of expertise and specialization that empowers a professional future with choices. The Regent Law program is rigorous, but the tools and experience it provides are rewarding. Regent Law graduates advance as practice-ready professionals, prepared to serve and succeed as Christian Leaders to Change the World.

“I was paired with Mr. Brandon Delfunt, a district attorney near the Atlanta area. He has given me very solid advice, in regard to law school and personally. He told me about how crazy everything can seem in law school with all the assignments and the extra-curricular activities that can pile up. But he also told me that he is glad that he did it. This was very encouraging for me personally because I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed. I know the day will come when I look back and am glad that I did it, as well.”
Carter Budwell, Mentoring Program Mentee
“I spent a summer as a Regent Center for Global Justice intern, working on immigration issues, and contributing to a win for three asylum cases. This confirmed a distinct calling on my life to seek justice and advocate for the oppressed.”
Emily Arthur, J.D., 2015
“I firmly believe that I am where I am personally and professionally right now because of professors and mentors, like Ernie Walton [now Dean of Regent Law], who have reached out and pulled me up ... We’re all here because other, more experienced attorneys have invested in us. It’s very meaningful for me to be able to do that for the next generation of attorneys.”
Dianna Baker, J.D., 2015Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney II - Lynchburg
“I'm very grateful to have been afforded the opportunity to serve as Judge Manion's law clerk. Seeing the federal appellate judicial process firsthand has been an unparalleled learning experience. I believe that Regent prepared me for this job through opportunities to hone my writing and research skills in core classes and on the Regent Law Review.”
Maxwell Thelen, J.D., 2012
“I did not pursue a legal career for my own purposes. I see it as a means of public service — a means of loving God’s people and serving the community. I know why I’m doing this. Regent prepared me to do it well through a firm academic curriculum and practical experience — all the while, I was well supported and inspired by my professors.”
