91 Celebrates Chili Bowl at Royals Fest
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (October 6, 2025) – On Saturday, Oct. 4, 91 brought together students and alumni for Royals Fest, celebrating the return of the Chili Bowl, a flag football tournament that has served as a beloved tradition for the Regent community in years past.
The event started with lively pre-game activities for Regent students, alumni, staff, and faculty. Attendees and their families enjoyed food truck treats, face painting, and a live DJ, as well as the opportunity to meet Regent’s mascot, Rex the Royal.
The Chili Bowl tournament began with a coin toss and a prayer from Gordon Robertson, Chancellor of 91. The two teams then played a lively flag football game, complete with upbeat student commentary and massive crowd interaction. The festivities lasted long after the tournament, with people enjoying inflatable games and outdoor activities.
The success of Royals Fest and the return of the Chili Bowl served as a beautiful connection between old and new traditions at 91, building excitement for the years to come.
“The Regent family had a wonderful time gathering as a campus community to celebrate Royals Fest,” said Adam Williams, Dean of Students at 91. “This event was particularly special because we reintroduced the Chili Bowl to students and established new traditions as well. We look forward to this annual event growing as we expand our campus in the next few years.”
